Note: This is a group buy, so we are collecting orders and payments now. We estimate that new and unfulfilled WhiteFox orders will ship soon (per this update).
The WhiteFox is a compact programmable keyboard designed by Matteo Spinelli and Input Club. Its CNC machined aluminum case is anodized, its keycaps are dye-sublimated PBT plastic in Cherry profile, and it accepts all Cherry MX-compatible mechanical keyswitches.
Input Club recommends Hako True and Clear switches for its keyboards. Jacob Alexander (HaaTa) designed the Hako line to emulate the best elements of Cherry MX Clear and Topre mechanical keyswitches. Hako switches pair Kaihua’s Box architecture, which is self-cleaning, with a highly engineered slider to create amazing smoothness and tactility. You can view Hako force curves in The Comparative Guide to Mechanical Switches on Input Club’s website.
We’re also offering Kaihua Speed, Kaihua Blue, and Cherry MX Clear switches. Kaihua Speed switches activate earlier in the keystroke than competing models, which may make them ideal for certain gaming and typing styles. Linear Speed Silver, clicky Speed Bronze, and tactile Speed Copper variants are available. Kaihua Blues use durable contacts and an improved MX-style click mechanism to achieve consistent tactility. Last, but not least, are Cherry MX Clear switches. They’re a wildly popular and modification friendly tactile model that many users recommend for long typing sessions.
Mechanical keyswitches are wonderful on their own, but they require an excellent layout to shine. The True Fox layout is optimized for rapid typing and quick computer input. Further tweaks via KLL, a custom firmware that allows deep customization, enables software-free key reassignments and macros for optimal productivity. The WhiteFox, which is natively compatible with most operating systems, offers N-key rollover in Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.
The WhiteFox heralds a new class of open source keyboards. It easily surpasses top of the line gaming models in transmission speed, aesthetics, and key feel. You can find files to make your own WhiteFox on Github. Please be aware that the files on Github reflect the old WhiteFox version. We’ll release the newest plans once our Kickstarter orders are fulfilled.
Community resources and our online firmware configurator are available to help you customize your WhiteFox. The WhiteFox can be programmed in a number of ways. If you have questions about specific operating system processes or requirements, please follow this link.
