GMK High Voltage
Note: This was a Group Buy that was cancelled as it did not reach MOQ. It launched Dec. 12 2019 and closed on Jan 16th 2020.
GMK High Voltage is inspired by visually intriguing wiring diagrams, electrical engineering symbols, and monolithic industrial control panels. Mangogreentea and skar, the set designers, repackaged this library of arcane knowledge for your fingertips. Engineers may even find a few of these keycaps useful at work — it's a win-win for aesthetics and practicality.
Electrical systems are remarkably complex. Tamper-resistant plug-n-play design hides the roots of our treasured devices. In fact, most people never really care to see inside the tools that drive their daily lives.
That's a shame. PCB production involves some of the greatest beauty and problem-solving that humanity has to offer. This is doubly true for vintage industrial equipment. Hand-routed keyboards from yesteryear (pictured above) illustrate that artistry.
Electricity, in spite of its contributions, is a dangerous utility. Electrocution hazard signs occupy a place of honor on transformers, power substations, and household products alike. Why not put them on keyboards?
Scare Cheeto-hands away with a vivid RAMA electrical hazard keycap. If you're crafty, attaching a prank zapper to your keycap (on a switch tester, not a keyboard) could result in some fun gags. Anodised Red (TBC) with Yellow (TBC) Enamel Fill and Brass with Gold PVD are available!
A vivid wiring diagram inhabits the GMK High Voltage deskmat. The colorway pairs well with keycap sets like Berserk and Royalty. Even if you're not interested in keycaps, the mat is worth a look.
